Another common term to avoid based on my recent conversation with a
criminal defense attorney here in Sacramento, CA, is ADVISE. That word is
used in the definition of assistance with a suicide under California law.
Obviously there are several different definitions of ADVISE. Do we ever
ADVISE someone *to commit suicide*? Never. Do we provide ADVICE on certain
methods for taking one's own life and where to get the information or
supplies? Yes.

The criminal attorney to whom I was referred said there didn't seem
to be a Federal statute specifically about this, but if a case were brought
in California, the decision would hinge on how to interpret the word ADVISE.
